Scare Zone’s Golden Skulls 2013

As we creep out of the clutches of 2013 it's time for us to reflect back at another year of Haunt Stalking that seems to of had quickly passed away. To close out 2013 here's our rankings of the best (and worst) haunts we experienced in our 2013 Haunt Stalking adventures.

Haunt Review: Knott’s Scary Farm 2013

With "Nowhere to Hide" we successfully survived another year of Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt! This year solidified Scary Farm's reinvention with the most highly themed and exceptionally crafted mazes in it's 41 year history. In comparison to other big SoCal Theme Park Haunts (er, Universal) Knott's still wins big in creating the perfect feeling of a big Halloween celebration.

Haunt Review: A New Playbook for Haunted Hollywood Sports?

This year the HHS team is striving to get it right and from the sounds of the early reviews coming from their recent media preview night, it seems like they are well on their way. We had some extra time on our scare-itineary and the HHS crew had invited us to out to check them out, so we decided to give them another chance and visited on their opening night.

Trip Report: HAuNTCon 2013 (Dallas, TX)

Scare Zone made the trek out to Texas in April to experience HAuNTCon, one of the larger yearly haunt conventions. We had a great time attending seminars, meeting professional and home haunters, and touring the tradeshow floor to see the latest and craziest offerings in the haunt industry.

Scare Zone’s 2012 Top Haunts

Another Haunt Season has passed away, so now it’s time for us to reflect back and rank the best and worst of our 2012 haunt stalking. As you all know, haunt experiences can be a highly individual and subjective experience; what may scare one person might not be frightening at all to another, and what scares you one night might fall flat on a return visit. In addition, this season we were like horror movie victims and split up and did some individual haunt stalking so we will feature separate rankings from both Scare Zone 'terrorspondents' M. Leota and Matt E. Horn.

Scare Zone’s 2011 Top Haunts

Well, the 2011 season is over, so it’s time to rank best that we Stalked! Haunt experiences can be a highly individual and subjective experience; what may scare one person might not be frightening at all to another, and what scares you one night might fall flat on a return visit. For this reason, the Scare Zone writers will be providing separate rankings.

Haunt Review: Sinister Pointe

Scare Zone did not exist in 2009, but if it had, Sinister Pointe's Fear attraction would have ranked near the very top of our...

Haunt Review: Knott’s Scary Farm 2011

Going to KSF this year, we were somewhat skeptical, but also hopeful, about their ability to ramp up the scares. So, this year, we're glad to say that KSF was successful in pumping some new blood into their haunts. Overall 2011 is more elaborate and scarier than it has been over the past few years. We like the direction that they are headed in, but it still doesn't have the level of intensity which we've come to expect over the past 19 years.
