Old Town Haunt
Pasadena, California, has long been the home of Old Town Haunt, located in the basement of an old bank building in the heart of Old Town Pasadena. Its underground location and original brick and stone walls were the perfect setting for a “catacombs” theme, and the haunt had some actual labyrinth-link elements that had guests turning around and trying to figure out which way to go. We’re sad to say that 2013 will be the last year for Old Town Haunt. It’s been several years since Scare Zone has visited Old Town Haunt, but we’re planning to check it out for its final farewell.
Old Town Haunt runs from October 5 through November 2, with tickets starting at $15.
Theatre of Terror
Pasadena residents can take heart that a new haunt has cropped up this year to fill the void that might be left in Old Town Haunt’s absence. Evil Twin Studios’ Theatre of Terror is taking over the Fremont Centre Theatre, which is a former mortuary and purportedly truly haunted. The back story seems to center on the mysterious happenings inside the theatre and its mortuary past.
Their website features an interactive puzzle game that provides clues to the haunt’s back story. Check it out here.
Theatre of Terror is a fundraiser for the South Pasadena Arts Council. It runs October 19 through November 2. Tickets are $10 online or $12 at the door.
