Have you put away that rotting pumpkin yet? Packed up the cobwebs? Replaced the black lights on your front porch? Yeah, neither have we. But it’s OK, because Halloween lives on long past October this year, with several spooky offerings in Southern California throughout the holiday season. Although spending time with your family might still be the most terrifying experience for you this year, you can take a break from the holiday stress by checking out some of these great events.
Holiday Haunted Attractions
All Saints Lunatic Asylum (Apple Valley, CA):
The Asylum will give haunt stalkers the greatest gift this year by opening for one weekend only with a Christmas-themed version of their popular haunted attraction.
Dates/Times: December 13-14, 2019; 7-10 pm
Reign of Terror Haunted House: “Ho-Ho-Horror” (Thousand Oaks, CA):
Reign of Terror is probably Southern California’s best-reviewed haunted attraction. And for the first time, they are opening their doors for a special December event, called “Ho-Ho-Horror.” Although details haven’t been revealed yet, we can only assume from the title of the that there will be demented Santas and Elves running amok among the detailed sets of this amazing haunt.
Dates/Times: December 13-14, 2019; 7-10 pm on Friday, 7-11 pm on Saturday
Zombie Joe’s Underground presents “The Boogeyman” (North Hollywood, CA):
Zombie Joe’s Underground continues to bend minds and provide dark, twisted entertainment well after Halloween with their newest performance called “The Boogeyman.” This experience is described as “a terrifying 20-minute, blind-folded experience through the darkest of your nighttime terrors.” Who needs to dream of sugar plums when you can have nightmares created by Zombie Joe instead? But hurry! This event closes the weekend before Thanksgiving (hopefully to make room for some more holiday horrors).

We all know that there is one true meaning of the holidays: to spend money and buy stuff! Here are sinister shopping opportunities for those of us with black hearts.
Dark Holiday Pop-Up Market at Sweet Hollywood (Hollywood, CA)
This dark holiday pop-up shopping event, featuring vendors from Midsummer Scream, photo-ops with the 7 Hells Krampus, fortune tellers, and more activities to be announced.
Pick up scary stocking stuffers and other creepy holiday items at this mini-horror con inside of Sweet Hollywood, a massive candy shop that includes an Elvira pop-up shop, and a design-your-own candy bar station!

Dark Delicacies @ Holiday in the Park (Burbank, CA)
Every year around Thanksgiving, the City of Burbank closes some of the streets to traffic around its popular unique shopping district surrounding Magnolia Blvd so that people can shop, sip some hot cider, and listen to live music and other entertainment. And every year, Dark Delicacies brings the holiday cheer for those of us with a darker soul. Stop by the shop for photo ops with Krampus, Sandy Claws, and Santa Jack from 6 to 9 pm.

Natural History of Horror: The Science of Scary @ The Natural History Museum (Los Angeles, CA)
In the new exhibition “Natural History of Horror,” at the Natural History Museum, explore the scientific inspiration for classic monsters from Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, and Creature from the Black Lagoon. Get a glimpse of rare movie props, film footage, hands-on activities, and museum specimens.
