HOS1

There’s been a constant bloody stream of news over the past few weeks from HHN, Knott’s Scary Farm and other major Theme Park Haunts and now we have the full details for this year’s Howl-O-Scream (HOS) at Busch Gardens in Tampa. This year will offer a new theme with a couple of new “experiences” but overall it’s 99%  the same as last year’s haunt with (disappointingly) only one new maze being added to lineup. There’ll also be the usual crowd with hundreds of undead creatures (and guests) emerging from the shadows and lurking throughout the park.

Nonetheless, our past visits to HOS has always exceeded our expectations with some of the best nontraditional scare tactics and themes we’ve experienced. We still remember The Hunted maze where a young girl asked if she could join our group until we catch up to her friends. After going through 1/3 of the maze she was suddenly grabbed and ‘killed’ by a slasher that had appeared out of nowhere. We completely fell for the setup and to this day it’s one of the most startling and memorable scares of our haunt stalking careers. With terrifying memories like these, we’re sure that the new maze and all the other returning offerings will provide guests with another year of memorable chills. It’s also been debated by our Haunt Stalkers that while HHN over in Orlando leads with the high-end maze designs, HOS is often seen as being the scarier of the two events. We could argue for and against this so we’ll leave it up to each of your own individual Haunt Stalker’s perspectives.

Dead Fall – Inside Dead Fall, the ghosts of long lost memories reach into the present and will NOT be forgotten! These spirits from the past lurk in the shadows of this Victorian garden and greenhouse, longing to drag unsuspecting guests into their world. Visitors will have to try to escape before becoming a permanent resident of Dead Fall.

In 2013, Busch Gardens included their Facebook fans in planning Howl-O-Scream’s new haunted house, Death Water Bayou. Fans chose three key elements of the house, and then saw their vote come to life when they visited the event. Back by popular demand, fans once again have the opportunity to vote on three key elements of Dead Fall, including the name of the estate, a murder tool one of the residents fell victim to, and the name of one of Dead Fall’s residents. Voting is taking place on Facebook polls so “Like” the Howl-O-Scream Facebook page and start voting now. And stay tuned to the Howl-O-Scream Instagram page for more contests and updated event information.
